Thoughts about the international urological

发布时间:2019-12-28

Thoughts about the international urological congressheld in Nanjing Jiangning new hospital 2019,December29/30

As a German urologist I had the chance to participate actively in the above mentioned urological congress. The venue was the new Jiangning Hospital, very modern with all technical facilities and the audience hall was big and comfortable. A large screen made it easy to follow the presentations. A lively animation film, which is unusual in Germany, preceded the scientific program. I found it very interesting. There were many attendees from different parts of China, experienced urologists as well as younger doctors and students. There were 2 main topics meeting the requirements of the Chinese audience: Stone treatment and andrology. I am always impressed to learn how my Chinese colleagues deal with these patients, they have so much skill and here they seldom use Xray support in their surgery as we do in Germany.

I had to give a short introductory speech which I tried partly in Chinese due to my respect to the Chinese audience. I hope it could be understood…

Then the audience had the honor to hear the welcome speech of the hospitals president Ding.

For the scientific program, which followed a well organized strict schedule, simultaneous translations were provided for the English speeches to Chinese. A lot of information could be transferred during the scientific speeches that followed by many speakers from different parts of China. The whole conference organization went very smooth. I found it very positive that there was availability for young doctors to present their papers .The best ones even got a prize!

I think the conference was a success for the hospital. Congratulations to the organizers!

As a German gynecologist I had the opportunity, to give a speech to the urological auditory. The topic was the female urine incontinence, an important problem for many women and a common medical subject for both, urologists and gynecologists. It was very interesting for me to hear, that other leading urologists spoke about the importance of “team work” for this female problem and showed slides about interdisciplinary conferences with urologists, gynecologists, gastro-intestinal surgeons and psychologists. Another slice was shown with the slogan “New thinking in Pelvic Floor Surgery” and about the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in a “Pelvic Floor Center”. This fact confirmed the goal of our hospital and me, to combine the specialization of my husband as a urologist and surgeon and mine, to build up such a “Pelvic floor center” in our hospital, to join the medical forces. The necessary equipment of a new urodynamic measurement machine in the urological department, to make the differential diagnosis of the type of incontinence, is already frequently used.

Summarizing it was a very interesting conference and very well organized by the responsible doctors of the urological department in our hospital. I was pleased, to have an active part in this important congress of our hospital, even with the support of a simultaneous translation and well translated slides of my presentation. Thank you for the perfect organization!
